Thesis Studies: Teaching American English Sounds to the Visual Impaired Using Adaptive Technology

  • Develop tactual materials that can be fit to the didactic necessities of visually impaired students and can be easily reproduced by all educational communities.
  • Design an accessible companion website that can work as educational support for the tactual materials, providing the most relevant information about the International Phonetic Chart (IPA) that can be used for visually impaired students and other educational communities.
  • Demonstrate the usefulness of the multisensory (auditory and tactile) input and Universal Design for Learning (UDL) to create didactic learning and teaching materials for the visually impaired students.

  • Designed and applied different instruments (interviews, observations, focal groups, testimonies, storytelling, etc.) to get information from people with disabilities about their experiences with higher education in Colombia.
  • Collected and analyzed information produced by the investigation in order to construct a new model of higher education for blind people in Colombia.
